Publishing Guidelines
home
learning-lincs.com provides an opportunity for students to publish their own work to the Internet. These guidelines are intended to ensure that the activities are conducted in a safe and appropriate manner. They should be read in conjunction with your own school and other Local Authority/State policies.

The publishing of students' work can be seen as a four stage process.

  1. Students gather data and prepare materials for publication.
  2. Work is edited and images uploaded to the project publisher.
  3. Students review their work with their teacher and check that it is suitable for the global audience.
  4. The teacher publishes work by entering the administrator password.

As a general school policy all students who have access to the Internet should be given suitable advice and have completed an acceptable use agreement form. In addition parents/guardians should be made aware that students are publishing work on the Internet. Further guidance is available from the web links given below.

Each school is given an administrator password that will be required before work can be submitted. Under no circumstances should students be allowed to publish work to the project site before a teacher has reviewed the content. The work can only be published by entering the administrator password.

The administrator password must not be given to students and should be changed if it becomes known to them. It is the responsibility of the named administrator in the school to ensure that the work published is suitable and conforms to these guidelines and our Terms of Use.

Students can enter and amend their work by logging on to the project publisher using the school's username. At this stage the work is not available to others on the web. Students should be made aware of the global audience that they are publishing to and why it is important to review their work before publishing.

General guidance

Do not publish anything that could be used to identify an individual student. If students’ names are used, only publish their first names. If pictures are used do not identify individual students.
